Many of us have used Facebook, and you’re probably familiar with Messenger, which allows Facebook users to communicate with each other. Lets understand the difference between normal chat and secret chat in the Facebook Messenger.
Before I tell you all about Facebook Messenger , people looking for extra privacy can use NewsTalk app. This not only serves the purpose of secret chatting but has all the features of a messaging app. Know more about this app here.
Difference Between Normal Chat and Secret Chat in Facebook Messenger.
A normal chat in Facebook Messenger involves opening the chat, searching for the person you want to communicate with, typing a message, and hitting send. This is accessible to Facebook.
A Secret chat is an end-to-end encrypted chat, meaning only you and the person you’re texting can access it. You just need to enable ‘end-to-end encryption’ before you send any messages.
How to enable end-to-end encryption feature in the Facebook Messenger?
There was this particular ‘Secret Conversation’ feature in the older version of Messenger which is no longer available, instead you can enable the end-to-end conversation by following below steps,
- Open the Facebook App and tap on chats.
- Tap on new message icon which looks like a pencil.
- Enable the lock option at the top right of the screen.
- Search for the contact of the person whom you want to communicate with.
- Open the chat and type in your messages.
- You can also set a timer for your messages to disappear.
Note: You cannot enable end-to-end encrypted chat with Business, Professional accounts or people who you haven’t messaged before.
How to Turn on Disappearing Messages on Facebook?
- From the chats , open the chat that you want to set a Disappearing Messages for.
- Tap on the person’s name / group’s name.
- Scroll and find Disappearing Messages.
- After you enable it , all your messages will disappear after the set period of time.
Note: Even though you can make your chats disappear, if someone takes a screenshot before they vanish, Facebook does not notify you.
Why Consider NewsTalk for Secret Messaging?
While Secret Conversations on Facebook offer good privacy features, you might want more control over how your private messages are hidden. That’s where the NewsTalk app comes in. Unlike Messenger, NewsTalk disguises itself as a news app, with notifications appearing as news alerts, so no one will ever guess that you’re actually chatting. Plus, it also offers end-to-end encryption and the ability to clear chats from both sides, making it even more secure. Learn more about this app here.
