The following Act of the Legislative Assembly received the asserit of the President on the
24th September 2007 and is hereby published for general information:-
ACT No. 29 OF 2007.
An Act further to amend the Factories Act, 1948, in its application
to the State of Tamil Nadu.
BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the
Fifty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows.-
- (1) This Act may be called the Factories (Tamil Nadu Amendment) Act, 2007.
(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Tamil Nadu.
(3) It shall come into force on sr~chdate as the State Government may, by
notification, appoint.

2 After sectlon 7-A of the Factories Act, 1948, the follov~ingsection shall be inserted, lnsertlon of
new section
namely:-
“7-AA. Occupier of Match or Fire Works Factory to insure workers.-(I) The occupier
of every factory wherein the manufacture of match or fire works is carried on shall get every
worker employed In the factory insured for a sum of not less than fifty thousand rupees
and keep the Insurance alive so long as the worker IS employed in the factory. The
payment of premium for such insurance shall be the liability of the occupier.
(2) The occupier shall send to the Chief lrspector a report contarning the
details of the Insurance referred to In sub-sect~on(I)at such ~ntelvalswith such particulars,
In such form and In such manner as may be prescrtbed by the State Government.
(3) If an occupter falls to comply wrth the provrsions of sub-sectron (I), the
Ch~efInspector may, after giving the occupier an opportunity of beinq heard ano after
considering the representation, ~fany, cancel the licence granted under &: *s Act.”.
