Central Act Amendment, The Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867

An Act further to amend the Press and Registration of
Books Act, 1867, in its application to the “[State of
Tamil Nadu].
WHEREASit is expedient further to amend the Prss and
Registration of Books Act, 1867 (Central Act XXV of
1867), in its application to the 3[Statc of Tamil Nadu]
for.the purpose hereinafter appearing;
BE it enacted in the Eleventh Year of the Republic of
India as follows :–

  1. (1) This Act may be called the Press and Registration Short title and
    of Books (‘[Tamil Nadu] Amendment) Act, 1960. extent.
    (2) It extends to the whole of the 3[State of Tamil
    Nadu].
    2 After sub-section (2) of section 4 of the. l’ress and Amendment of
    Registration of Books Act, 1567 (Central Act XXV of section 4,
    1S67), the following *.ub-section shall be add^ (1, nan~ely:—

  • The amendment made by Tan12 Nadu Act 14 of 1960 was
    extended to the added territories by section 4 of, adthe Secoud
    Schedule to, the Tamil Nadu (Added Territories) Extei;s:on of I.aws
    Ac!, 1962 (Tan~ilNadu Act 14 of 1962).464 Press and Registrution of Books [I960 :T.N. Act 14

    “(3) (a) Where any press in respect of which a
    declara .ion has been made under this section-
    (i) does not commence the printing of books
    or papers, within a period of three months of such declara-
    tion, such declaration shall be void ; or .
    (il) having commenced such printing within the
    period mentioned in sub-clause (i), has ceased the printing
    of books and papers for a period exceeding three months,
    such declzration shall ccase to have effect.
    (b) No press in respect of which a declaration made
    under this sstion has, under clause (a) become void or
    ceased to have effect, shall commence, or as the case may
    be, recommence, the printing of books or papers, without
    a nzw declaration having been made.”
