Acts of the Gujarat Legislature and Ordinances promulgated
and Regulations made by the Governor.
The following Act of the Gujarat Legislature, having been assenkd to by the
Governor on the 15th May 1965 is hereby published for general information.

“Gujnrat Governmeni Gazette” on the 17th May 1965. )
-An Act further to amend the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in its epplication
to the State of Gujarat for certain purposes.

It is hereby enacted in the Sixteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-

  1. (I) This Act may be called the Societies Registration (Gujarat Amendment) short title
    Act, 1965.
    (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by
    notification in the Oficial Gazette, appoint.
  2. Affer section 4 of the Societies Registration Act. 1860 in its application to ~nhionof
    rthe State of Gujarat (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Act”), the foliowingzw

    “4A. (I) Together with the list mentioned in section 4, there &all be sent
    to the Registrar a statement showing changes during the year to which the

    list relates in the personnel of Govem~~8, counciI, directors, committee or other
    governing body to whom the rna&&ment of tbe affairs of the society is
    entrusted and also a copy of the rules of the society corrected uptodate and
    certikd to be correct copy by not 1- than three of the members of the
    governing body.
    (2) – A copy of every alteration made in the rules of the socity, certified to
    be a correct copy by not less than three members of the governing body,
    shall be sent to the Registrar within thirty days of the making of such
    alteration.’.’.

    Ineertim of 3; After section 21 of the principal Act, the following ne-w sections shall be
    22 and 28 inserted, namely :-
    in Act XXI
    of 1880.
    Penalties. “22. (I) If the president, secretary or any other person suthorisd &&his
    behalf by a resolution of the governing body of the society fails to comply
    with the provisions of section 4, he shall, on convictim, be punished with fine
    which may extend to five hundred rupees and in the case of a continuing
    breach, shall also be punished with fine not exceeding fifty rupees for each day,
    during the period the breach continues after first conviction for such offence.
    (2) If any person wilfully makes or causes to be made any ialsc entry in,
    or any omission from the list required by section 4, or in or from any statement
    or copy of rules or alterations in rules sent to the Registrar under iection 4A,.
    he shall, on conviction, be punished .with fine which may extend to two
    thousand rupees.
