(2) It shall extend to the whole of the State cf Orissk.

~efinld~~2. In thIs Act, unless the context otherwise requires, –
I
!
(a) “appointed day1′ means the date of commence men^ of tbis.,,Act.;.
(b) “forest area” includes all lands notified as forest undrr any law or
adminifiered as forest, whether. State owned .or private and whether
wooded or maintained as a potential forest land;
(c) “licence1′ means aslicence granted under section 7 ;
(d) ‘glicensee”means any person to whom a licence is gantedunder section 71
(a) “licensing o6cer” means a licencing officer appointed under section 3; : 1
(f)”pcescribed” means prescribed .by rules;
(g) “ruIes” means rules made by the State Government undet this Act;
(h) “saw mill” means the plant and machlnay wiih which and the piem’ises .,
including the precincts thercof in which or any pat of which sawing
is carried on with the aid ~f elechic8l or mechanical power; ‘
(i) “saw pit” means a rkce where wocd is *awn by manualIy operated saws;
U) “sawing” wlth its gramrnailcal variations and cognate expressions means
operation of sawink, cutting, convtrting, fashioning- or,-seasoning wood
and includes preservation and treatment thereof either by mechanical
process with the aid of electrical or mechanic; 1 power ar by manually
operated sws;
(k)”vechicle'” includes truck, tractor, trolly, motor vehicle, boat and cart;
(0″wood” includes trees when they have falIen or hve been felled, and
all wood of any species whcther cut, converted, fashioned, sawn or
hallowed out for any purpose or not; and
(m)words and expressions used but not defined and definid in Ihe Orjssa –
