classes of citizens and to.ualidate certain appointments.
ITIS HEREBY enacted in the Fortieth Year of the Republic of India as
foIlows :-
commencement

1. (1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Public Servic,, Sho~ttitle and
   Rixervation d
   (Reservation for Backward Classes) Act, 1989.
   (2) It shall1 be deemed to have come into force on August PO, 1977.
2. (1) In public services and posts in connection with the affairs of

   the State there shall be resemd the following percentages of posts at the of
   stage of direct recruitment in favour of backward classes of citizensr specified classes
   in the Schedule,-
   (i) fifteen per cent in Group A, Group B and Group C Posts ;
   (ii) ten per cent in Group D posts.
   (2) In this section groups A, B, C :l,nd D mean the groups of posts res-
   pectively falling in the said groups under the orders of the State Government
   for the time being in forcel.

3. Notwithstanding any judgement, decree or order of any court, any YaIidation of
   appointment of the members of backward classes of citizens specified in the certain appoint-
   Schedule to any post or service in connection with the affairs of the State mcnfs
   made in pursuance ofany rules or Govcr~m~entorders providing for reser-
   vation for such class shall be deemed to have been made under the provisions
   of this Act and shall be deemed to have alitrays been valid.
