Although Indians must have registration before entering Hong Kong, there are some exemptions too. There are eight different scenarios under which Indians can enter Hong Kong even without a Pre Arrival Registration.

The conditions of the exemption are:

  1. Indian diplomatic passport or official passport holders
  2. Hong Kong travel pass holders
  3. Indian nationals with the right to an unconditional stay in Hong Kong.
  4. Holders of United Nations Laissez-Passer coming to the HKSAR on official United Nations business
  5. Indians operating aircrew or operating sea crew Indian nationals.
  6. Indian citizens who have obtained a valid entry visa for Hong Kong. PAR is not required if you have valid permission for employment, study or residence in Hong Kong.
  7. Indian citizens enrolled in the e-Channel service as frequent visitors
  8. Cases of direct transit where the traveller does not leave the airport transit zone.

Documents Required to Apply for Hong Kong Visa

The requirement list for Hong Kong visa is quite simple. One can apply for a Hong Kong visa with just two documents-

  • A colour-scanned copy of the first and last page of your Passport. The validity of your passport should be at least 6 months from the date of travel and have a minimum of 3 blank pages.
  • Duly filled questionnaire.
  • Email address.

As the registration for Hong Kong is done online, no physical documents are required. Nevertheless, only the colour scan copy of the passport would suffice.

The questionnaire for a Hong Kong visa requires some of your personal information and your travel details.  Some fields are mandatory for all applicants while some others are optional.  One has to answer the optional questions wherever applicable.
